In the world of fashion, beautiful faces come and go. Some faces will unfortunately be forgotten in due time while others create legacies and will be remembered forever and become figures larger than life. Just this 7th of October 2009, a famous iconic figure in the world of fashion announced her retirement after gracing the runaway for twenty years. She is no other than super model Claudia Schiffer, who said that although she'll continue to go on as a "model" in other aspects, she will no longer walk the runway or catwalk.
Schiffer is thirty nine years old as of this year and revealed that she never really dreamt of becoming a famous top model that she is now. Her father had a law firm and what she really wanted was to become one of the lawyers there but when representatives of a modeling agency spotted her, Claudia was immediately signed. Then shortly after that, she was made as the new face for Chanel's fashion house by Karl Lagerfeld. According to Lagerfeld, it was almost impossible to that a photo taken of Claudia would turn out bad.
Then in the early 90s, Schiffer became the face of another famous brand name in the world of fashion, "Guess?". Soon after she was signed by Revlon with a stunning 10 million dollar contract, which made her the highest paid ,model in the world at that time.
Claudia Schiffer also made it to the "Guiness Book Of World Records" as the model who was featured on the front cover of music magazine Rolling Stone and was also named as the world's prettiest face by People magazine in the 90s.
Claudia Schiffer, now after twenty years under the limelight, after earning a staggering figure of almost 40 million pounds decided it was time to bid the catwalk farewell.
